A cream that acts like Botox?

A revolutionary new anti ageing cream developed by Shenaz Shariff at The Face and Body Clinic on London's Harley Street has taken the beauty world by storm, with celebrities swearing by its time defying properties.

Suitably named ‘Defy Time’ this smoothing moisturiser contains a new and highly developed ingredient called Syn-ake. Syn-ake is an anti-wrinkle synthetic peptide which mimics the paralysing effect of a peptide that is found in the venom of the Brazilian Temple Viper. The formula has been in development for many years in Switzerland and for the first time has been used in a moisturizer.

Synake inhibits the release of neurotransmitters which cause facial muscle tension, and with the muscle contractions inhibited, wrinkles are visibly reduced. Synthetic snake venom has historically been used in therapeutic and diagnostic products, but its benefits for use in cosmetic products has only recently been realised.

With claims that this is the ‘new botox’, Defy Time may be just the cream that's set to to revolutionise women’s skincare regimes across the country.

Joanna Lumley recently revealed ‘Since I started using Defy Time regularly I have been showered with compliments on the look and texture of my skin. This beautiful cream, not tested on animals, has impeccable and effective ingredients: clever Shenaz, lucky me.’

While actress Tamzin Outwaite adds: 'Defy Time by Shenaz is one of the best face creams I have tried. I have been using the cream regularly and have noticed a definite improvement in the feel of my skin, it’s much smoother and firmer. This is a great face cream and its magic ingredient Syn-ake definitely works!'

We put Defy Time to the test and noticed that skin looked smoother and fresher within just two weeks of use. You only need to use a very small amount of the cream as it's rich texture means a little goes a long way.

Defy Time is available online at www.thefaceandbodyclinic.co.uk or directly from the clinic’s base at 57 Harley Street, London W1G 8QS. The cream retails at £49.95 for 50ml.

Luxurious autumn beauty

Autumn is officially (in my mind at least) the most exciting season of the year when it comes to fashion. Who can resist wrapping up in chunky scarves, woollen knits, soft snuggly boots and toasty coats? Oh yes. But it's also the season when we can start to get excited about make-up again.

While the summer might give us a golden glow, it's also (usually) too warm to have fun with lots of make-up. Come autumn though, we can play with powder puffs and sparkly shades galore. And this season, eyes are set to be big.

But the eye area is delicate and readily shows signs of age. It flags up lack of sleep and gives away a previous night's partying. Enter Elizabeth Arden’s new eye care range which targets and tends your eyes for all-round perfection and allure.

The new Ceramide Gold Ultra Lift and Strengthening Eye Capsules (£36) are an absolute godsend. Twist them apart and dab the oil captured inside under your eyes and you can feel your skin tightening minutes later. Ideal for making you look your best on a night out (or relieving tired, puffy eyes the morning after).

Before applying eye shadow, try the new Advanced Eye-Fix Primer (£16.50), which is designed to prevent eye make-up from creasing, streaking or fading. Light-textured and colourless, it keeps colours true while simultaneously providing long-term moisturizing benefits to the eye area.

Try the new Heritage Colour Intrigue Eyeshadow Duos (£24.50) for a blended, professional look and finish with the Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara (£16) in new Midnight Blue for a subtle difference. Specifically designed to strengthen lashes, it won't smudge, flake or clump and contains Vitamins A, C and E to help reinforce and restore lashes' natural protective barrier

Make sure your eyes look their best by caring, preparing and colouring.

Available nationwide at Boots and leading department stores.

Treat your mitts this autumn

Beautiful crisp autumn days are here, which means extra protection for the skin is a must. We all know that cool weather and warm central heating can play havoc with our skin - and our hands, being exposed to the elements most of the time, can be the first to suffer.

Well, not any more. Elemis has just launched a new Pro-Collagen Hand and Nail Cream within its anti-ageing body category. Designed to prevent crepiness and chapped skin, the cream contains 'Micro-Lattice Technology' which, in layman's terms, is the scientific equivalent to a mesh body stocking, say Elemis.

Packed with powerful Anti-Oxidants to protect against external drying factors, the pro-collagen cream ensures targeted intervention from the first signs of ageing through to mature skin.

It combats:

- Thinning skin and crepiness on the back of the hands (which betrays a woman’s age faster than any other area of the body)

- Discolouration of the hands and sun damage (age spots)

- Redness and soreness (from temperature variations)

- Weakened nails and cuticles (which suffer dryness and flakiness)

 - Dryness (over washing with harsh detergents)

For stockists, mail order and enquiries call the Elemis Customer Care Centre on 01278 727 830 or visit elemis.com.

Get grooming with Bulldog

Fellas, if you're looking for something a little more wholesome for your skin - or girls, you want your men to look and feel gorgeous using natural products, then check out Bulldog, the UK’s first natural grooming brand for men.

Since launching last year, Bulldog has become a pioneer of natural grooming. Refreshingly, the range doesn't contain any controversial man-made chemicals used in other grooming products, including parabens, sodium laureth sulfate, artificial colours and synthetic fragrances.

Instead, each Bulldog product is packed with at least seven essential oils and a host of natural ingredients that offer improved performance in a body friendly way.

What's more, Bulldog never uses ingredients from animal sources and always replaces man-made chemicals with natural ingredients where possible.

The team behind Bulldog have just launched three new gifts which will be available in Debenhams and Sainsbury’s - and on the Bulldog website.

Check out:

The Bulldog Wash Kit For Men (£10) which features Bulldog Original Shampoo (200ml), Face Wash (175ml) and Shower Gel (200ml) plus a Sainsbury's washbag

The Bulldog Grooming Kit For Men ((£10) which features the Bulldog Original Face Wash (175ml), Shave Gel (175ml) and Moisturiser (100ml) plus a Debenhams washbag

The Bulldog Original Shower Gel and Moisturiser Box Set (£7) which features Bulldog Original Shower Gel (200ml) and Moisturiser (100ml)

Ladies be warned, you may find the men in your life may be reclaiming a bit of the bathroom - but hey, they're worth it. Him indoors loves the stuff so we can happily recommend it.

All Bulldog products are manufactured here in the UK, because unlike many of their competitors, they think that transporting empty bottles and tubes from one country, filling them in another and selling them in a third is fundamentally damaging to the environment.

Ditch your lipstick and try this instead

We have just discovered a new addiction. And it's a good one, but be warned you might find yourself throwing away your lipsticks after reading this.

Lip Ink is a revolutionary lip colour that uses only natural products and is never tested on animals. Think of a marker pen for the lips, it's a liquid organic colour 'stain' that you apply sparingly with a brush applicator - and you can then apply gloss over the top.

As well as being long-lasting, it's totally smudge proof, so there's no more leaving colourful smudges on your other half's lips, your tea cups, or on your clothes.

This stuff is just fab. After a single application it looks as if you were born with your chosen lip colour - and it stays on all day.

It's possible to use layering between different colours to create your very own lip shade - and there are plenty to choose from. Plus, if you pay an extra £5, you can have your very own shade made for you.

Lip Inks are created from renewable herbal and botanical ingredients, they help to speed up natural lip exfoliation, are preservative and wax free - and filled with all these goodies.

Celebrity fans include Britney Spears, Dita von Teese and Courteney Cox Arquette.

We think they're just brilliant and are already complete converts. Lip inks cost £11.50 each. Order yours at lipink.co.uk.

The wonder exfoliant

If you suffer with clogged pores or dull and lifeless skin caused by late nights and city living, then may we recommend a great little find called Ginvera Marvel Gel. This product works like magic, restoring a healthy glow to blemished skin. Take a few minutes in the evening to use the gel, which lifts the dead skin in a matter of a few gentle rubs, and you'll discover smooth skin and refined pores.

Enriched with liberal amounts of antioxidants found in Green Tea and other natural herbs, the gel reduces dead skin and blackheads into powdery white residues in just 30 rubs. Simply rinse off the residues and your complexion will literally be brighter and softer. We love this product because you can just feel the old, dead skin cells being removed from the face, without any irritation or redness afterwards.

How does it work? Ginvera Marvel Gel stimulates skin metabolism and has an anti-oxidant effect, brightening the complexion. It balances free radicals to delay the ageing process, while revitalising cells to lighten age spots and freckles, and remove make-up and impurities, leaving skin feeling refreshed and clean. Simply spread the gel on the face when dry, then rub gently with both hands for one minute or until gel dries up and rinse off with plenty of water.

Price: £15 for 30 grams or £25 for 60 grams, available exclusively in the UK from www.happybabble.com

July mailbag: what you've been saying

This month the big feature that got most of you talking was: Why it's time for the alpha male to make a comeback. In fact, it caused quite a lot of heated debate on our message boards.

Not a girly man said. 'Christ on a bike! Men need to harden up and stop using so much more 'product' than their babes'. If a bird wanted to date a bird, then that's cool (no, that's REAAAAALLY cool hahaha), but if she wants a man - BE ONE!! Do the car stuff, go to the gym, laugh at yourself and generally get over trying to be the senstive one all the bloody time - that's what babes do, NOT MEN! Urgh - give me Arnie with a degree and the humour of Eddie Izzard.'

While Hawthorn 5 admitted feeling a tad confused about the subject: 'I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be anymore. If I behave in a confident manner, it's likely to be interpreted as aggressive, if I'm too sensitive then I appear not confident enough... I think as a man it's all rather confusing. So instead of trying to behave in a certain manner, being 'me' is the best course. I would not expect to change anyone else, we are who we are, and that - I'm afraid - is life. Sadly we are bombarded with so much hype... how strange society is becoming.'

It seems it is a tricky subject indeed Still, it's Echo Bravo who we must thank for this most amusing post:

'Why do men die first? This is a question that has gone unanswered for centuries, but, now we know. It requires a bit of explanation, first:
If you put a woman on a pedestal and try to protect her from the rat race ... you're a male chauvinist. If you stay home and do the housework ... you're a pansy. If you work too hard ... there's never any time for her. If you don't work enough ... you're a good-for-nothing bum. If she has a boring repetitive job with low pay ... this is exploitation. If you have a boring repetitive job with low pay ... you should get off your lazy behind and find something better. If you get a promotion ahead of her ... that is favouritism. If she gets a job ahead of you ... its equal opportunity.

If you mention how nice she looks ... its sexual harassment. If you keep quiet ... its male indifference. If you cry ... you're a wimp. If you don't ... you're  insensitive. If you make a decision without consulting her ... you're a chauvinist.

If she makes a decision without consulting you ... she's a liberated woman. If you ask her to do something she doesn't enjoy ... that's domination. If SHE asks you ... it's a favour. If you appreciate the female form and frilly underwear ... you're a pervert. If you don't ...
you're gay.

If you like a woman to shave her legs and keep in shape ... you're sexist. If you don't ... you're unromantic. If you try to keep yourself in shape ... you're vain. If you don't ... you're a slob. If you buy her flowers ... you're after something. If you don't ... you're not thoughtful. If you're proud of your achievements ... you're full of yourself. If you don't ... you're not ambitious. If she has a headache ... she's tired. If you have a headache ... you don't love her anymore. If you want it too often ... you're oversexed. If you don't ... there must be someone else.

Why Do Men die first? It's because they want to!'

Thanks to everyone who gave us their feedback and comments via this blog on our message boards in the last month. Keep them coming.
