30 septiembre Top discount on Maybelline's new vibrating mascaraMaybelline have launched their first ever vibrating mascara, Pulse Perfection, and we are offering readers the chance to get a £1.50 discount. Print your voucher here! Packed with lengthening agents which are pulsed to their fullest extent as the mascara is applied, Pulse Perfection is designed to give longer looking lashes. Caring oils and intense pigments also restore lustre, to promote a shiny lash appearance. Says Maybelline: "Standard manual application of normal mascaras requires several passages of the brush to work out any clumps that might have been formed; our vibrating brush uses its horizontal micro-movements to even out the formula as it pulsates its way through lashes. Making the final lash-look clump-free. Fiona Jolly, Maybelline New York’s Celebrity Make-Up Artist, agrees: “It’s great for really covering the base of the lashes and helps to create a superb thickness and definition to your lashes. The mascara does all the hard work for you with amazing results.” Get your discount voucher now! 29 septiembre Istylista.comA classy clothes site that dresses you according to your body shape? Check out the new Brylcreem boy!Kevin Pietersen has taken on the role - the first man to do so since David Beckham 10 years ago. Doesn't he look lovely! Says Kevin: “It’s a real honour to be asked to be the next Brylcreem Boy – just look at the roll-call of names. Those are pretty big shoes to fill, but I’m eager to bring my own individual style and personality to the table.” 22 septiembre Beautiful fold-away ballet shoesLadies, we’ve all been there: bought a gorgeously sexy pair of knock-em-dead high heels to strut our stuff in, only to find ourselves in agony at the end of the night, needing to be carried home courtesy of a cab.
But it doesn’t have to be this way! A small boutique business called CocoRose has come up with the (frankly) ingenious idea of creating pretty foldable ballet shoes that fit into a tiny bag, which you can then pop into your handbag. So if you want to wear heels to the office, give your feet a break by wearing these fold-away flats on the way into work, or pop them on under your desk if your tootsies are feeling the strain. If you fancy a night out on the tiles in stilettos, then fold-away flats are an absolute must. They’re also great for driving in, rather than your six-inchers, if you’re headed out to dinner. I took them to a party the other night and it was bliss slipping them on for the journey home. CocoRose was founded by Janan Leo after finding herself (yet again) carrying her heels to the nearest taxi rank at the end of a party. Fast forward two years and CocoRose now has four new collections launching every year, featuring five new designs. The shoes all have satin or leather uppers and leather soles, and come in pretty colours with matching bags. Check them out at cocoroselondon.com. 17 septiembre John Lewis launches designer department onlineJohn Lewis has launched a brand new online fashion department, featuring more than 200 fashion and beauty brands. To help combat this, RoC® has spent five years developing a 'magic bullet' called THPE, which aims to tighten the surface and noticeably lift the skin. The science bit: "THPE works by triggering the micro-contractions of keratinocytes in order to tighten the surface and noticeably lift the skin", say RoC®. And it can be found in their new Complete Lift range, which features a daily moisturiser, flash serum, eye cream and overnight cream. RoC®'s Complete Lift Lifting Daily Moisturiser (£29.35) is clinically proven to provide, on average, a 2mm lift that lasts all day for a visibly younger looking you. For parties and special occasions where you need an extra lift quick, RoC®'s new Complete Lift Lifting Flash Serum (£29.35) is a highly concentrated, rapidly absorbed daily serum that combines THPE and Bugrane technology with a powerful wheat polymer to give skin an immediate lift. For a measurable lift and visible reduction in dark circles for a sparkling first impression, Anti-Dark Circle Lifting Eye Cream (£21.50) is a velvety eye cream designed to lift the eyelids. It has a radiance enhancing pigment to reduce the appearance of dark circles and give your eye contours a luminous glow. Perfect for hiding tired eyes. And for an overnight boost, RoC®'s Complete Lift Overnight Regenerating Lifting Cream (£29.35) is specially formulated for the night, when the skin is at its most receptive.
03 septiembre Friends of the bees!Ok, so this has not an awful lot to do with fashion or beauty, but it's about bees. And saving the bees. The bees are in trouble and we love them. So here goes: Friends of the Bees is a new, UK-based charity founded to conserve and protect bees, to educate people about bees and to research and promote more natural beekeeping methods. Friends of the Bees is a way that everyone can become involved with bees – and not just honeybees, but also the other native species, including bumblebees and mason bees, which are also very important pollinators. Friends of the Bees was inspired by the Natural Beekeeping Network – a growing, worldwide movement of over 1500 beekeepers in 160 countries who are developing more natural ways to look after their bees. Nearly half the membership is in the UK. Many of these beekeepers started down the path of 'natural beekeeping' after reading The Barefoot Beekeeper, a book written by Friends of the Bees director Phil Chandler. He says, "The recent stories of honeybees being in decline have made many beekeepers look more critically at the way they treat their bees. We don't want to have to medicate them or put synthetic chemicals into our hives – it goes against all our instincts and detracts from the public's perception of honey as a natural, unadulterated product." "We are working with the Soil Association to match organic farmers with local, natural beekeepers, so farmers will have the benefit of bees on their land, and the bees will have the benefit of the greater biodiversity found on organic farms." "Where we differ from traditional beekeepers is that we are less concerned with honey yields and more with the wider implications of helping to maintain a valuable species in the best possible health. You cannot do that by making them dependent on drugs." Natural beekeeping events and courses will be available from spring 2010 in a number of locations, starting with Embercombe in Devon.
