August 28 A botox alternative in a jar?Normally, Botox injections are the beauty industry’s only answer to a wrinkle free, plumped up complexion. Until now! By using a revolutionary new ingredient called Syn-ake®, Planet Skincare has produced a 'miracle cream'. Syn-ake is (believe it or not) synthetic snake venom engineered to mimic the real thing. The venom in the Temple Viper has paralytic properties, owing to a combination of three amino acids which together inhibit the signals sent to a muscle telling it to contract. "When used in skincare, Syn-ake® has the ability to reduce muscle cell contractions that cause wrinkles, and in doing so, provides Botox-like results," said a spokesman. Clinical tests have shown that 80% of the volunteers tested showed a remarkable smoothing effect and an anti-wrinkle effect was demonstrated in 73 per cent of the volunteers over a 28-day period. Syn-ake also won the 2006 Swiss Technology Awards for its innovation and technical capabilities. Planet Skincare's products are paraben free and are not tested on animals. The range is available from Selfridges and www.planetskincare.co.uk.
