August 21 Straight hair on the goCheck this out - new cordless hair straighteners!
This genius invention from Freedom means you can not only ditch the flex when perfecting your 'do, you can even straighten your hair when there's no electricity around. How? Well, this nifty set comes with a 60-minute usage time rechargeable battery. And if that runs out? No problem. These straighteners can be recharged through a car charger.
Could this mean, for those of us vain enough, that festival/camping/dragged-through-a-hedge-backwards hair could be a thing of the past? We think so.
The Freedom 24/7 - Cordless Hair Straightener, which comes in black, white and red, has top quality salon standard floating ceramic and tourmaline plates, which heat up to 200 degrees in around 60 seconds and have variable heat settings for fine, heavy, straight or curly hair.
If you're planning a break away, the UK, EU and US mains adaptors included in the box will also ensure you can get lovely straight locks abroad.
Quite simply, brilliant.
Freedom 24/7 Cordless Hair Straighteners can be ordered from www.justbeautifully.co.uk right here.
August 20 Fabulously Udderly SmoothThis week we are just loving the fab range of moisturisers from Udderly Smooth. Beautifully packaged in funky cow print tubs - and delivered as gifts in quirky cow print boxes, the collection also has a seriousy useful side. Staffordshire pharmacist Andrew Magrath discovered the range in Boston, America, when he was on a round-the-world yacht race called the BT Global Challenge (which, incidentally, he won). He and his team found it to be fantastic on all of their skin complaints, including sun and wind burn, rope burns and salt sores. 'We found Udderly Smooth to be a wonderful greaseless, stainless all-round moisturiser and barrier cream,' says Andrew. He began importing Udderly Smooth® from the Kennedy family in Ohio (who manufacture the brand) when he returned from the race and hopes to bring it to the rest of the UK. A versatilve cream, it can be used to treat dry, chapped skin, sunburn, windburn, cracked heels, eczema and psoriasis. It has also been used as an effective treatment for nappy rash and is ideal for use after breast feeding and during Chemotherapy treatment, when the skin can become dry. Sporting enthusiasts will also be pleased to learn it's ideal for protecting the skin while skiing and snowboarding, cycling, scuba diving, watersports, horse riding, hiking, swimming and even gardening. Udderly Smooth offers four products; Hand Cream, Hand & Body Lotion, Foot Cream with Shea Butter and the new Chamois Cream for cyclists. Visit www.udderlysmooth.co.uk to find out more, or find the range at The Garden Pharmacy in Covent Garden, London, or Fenwick of Bond Street, London. Prices range from from £3.20 to £7.99. Udderly Smooth will also be at this year’s Clothes Show Live in December. August 15 A little energy boost? If you need a little pick-me-up during the day, Starbucks has just introduced the Vivanno brand, a new line of healthy drinks made with fresh ingredients which are designed to give a real energy boost. The Orange Mango Banana Blend contains one whole banana, whey protein and fibre power, a choice of milk, ice and fruit juices, while the Banana Chocolate Blend is made with bittersweet cocoa and a whole banana. The drinks contain no artificial sweeteners and are reassuringly low in fat. We tried them out here on the Life & Style team and have to say they're rather refreshingly ice cold and delicious. Starbucks Vivanno Nourishing Blends are £3.25 for a tall size. August 14 Get glamorously glossyLadies, the X Factor is due to start this Saturday, and while most of the nation will be focussed on watching the howlings and whinings of Britain's least talented, I, myself, will be obsessed with one thing: Cheryl Cole.
Yes that girl is one mesmerising beauty. She just manages to look good in anything - and what she wears, I want to buy. (If only I could fit into her size 6 jeans. Well, maybe I could if you sewed both legs together.) And that hair! Just so glamorously fabulous.
Which brings me on to a new range which has just been launched by Remington, called Shine Therapy. This new collection, which features a hair dryer and straightener is a bit different because it delivers conditioning properties to the hair while styling.
The Dryer (£49.99) has 'vitamin shine technology' and will emit a sheer mist containing vitamins A, E and D and avocado oil, nutrients that 'work together to produce the ultimate shine', according to Remington. With the touch of a button, the mist will surround your hair whilst drying resulting in an altogether glossier finish.
The Straightener (£69.99) has ceramic plates infused with a blend of vitamin E, avocado oil and conditioning agents that diffuse onto the hair during styling, to give it extra protection.
Remington’s Shine Therapy is stocked at leading high street stores including Boots and Argos.
Little loaf of goodnessOK, so this isn't exactly a fashion and beauty thing, but we just had to include it because it's a good charidee thing.
The Little Brown Loaf (made by them of hazy-summertime-cycling-down-cobblestone-lanes Hovis people) is making a comeback. First introduced in 1886, the Little Brown Loaf is a tasty, unsliced, wholemeal loaf, which has the Hovis logo embossed on both sides.
Available exclusively from Harrods’ in-store bakery from 1st September, the loaf is priced at £1.05, and will be sold nationwide throughout supermarkets later in the month.
But here's the thing, Harrods of Knightsbridge will also be exclusively stocking 122 limited edition ‘Bake Your Own Hovis Little Brown Loaf’ kits in-store. Priced at £24.95, the premium kits will contain a Hovis baking tin and Hovis wholemeal flour, so you can bake your own delicious Little Brown Loaf at home. All profits from the sale of the kits will go directly to Cancer Research UK. So go on, fill your home with the warm aroma of baking bread at the weekend and know that you're doing something good for charity at the same time. Scrumptious.
